Level 1 Classes
Are technique classes for anyone at any level. No experience required.
Mark Making figured Saturday January 4 9am-4pm
You will learn this great technique of using drawing materials, like crayons and charcoal on venetian plaster and finishing the piece with water based oil. You will learn gesture drawing, composition, and how to incorporate motif. This is a one day class, with a one hour lunch break. Finish your painting in one day!

Surreal Silhouette- Mondays January 13, 20, 6pm to 8:30pm
Create an attractive contemporary art piece utilizing silhouettes and collage. You will learn how scale can be a tool in telling your surrealistic story. This is a mixed media technique in collage, acrylic, spray paint and oil.

Themed Found Object Wednesdays January 22, 29, 3pm to 5:30pm
Make a funky found object piece centered around a theme. Turn all of your collections and treasures into a work of art, or at least clean out your junk drawer! This class is lots of fun and very creative.

Abstract Roller Floral- Mondays, February 3, 10, 6pm to 8:30pm
Create a contemporary abstract floral piece while learn the technique of painting with a brayer or roller. You will create beautiful textures for this loose expressionistic floral painting.

Trendy Mona Lisa- Thursdays, February 6, 13, 4pm to 6:30pm
Have a great creative time telling a story using the Mona Lisa image. This class teaches composition, collage, and mixed media technique. Combine your favorite quirky, steam punk, symbolic imagery and tell your story.

Level 2 Classes
Are skill building and technique classes. If you have never ever painted before, you should take a level 1 class first.
Impressionist Landscape-Wednesdays January 8, 15th, 3:00 to 5:30 PM
You will create an impressionistic landscape from a photo and learn the art of the brush stroke. You will learn how to use color and light as a tool for creating depth. Paintings will be in oil.

Mixed Media Standing Animal- Friday January 10th 1pm to 4pm
Saturday January 11th 9am to 4pm with a one hour lunch break
Create a contemporary mixed media piece of a four legged animal in full view. Ideas for subject are, horse, buffalo, fox, moose, deer, dog, cat etc. We will be using collage, acrylic, spray paint and oil.

8 Brush Stroke Portrait-Fridays, Jan. 24, 31st and Feb. 7th, 1:00-4:00 PM
Learn how to find the essence of a portrait in just eight brush strokes. Then you will render the portrait through subtraction and finish your portrait with opaque painting. You will learn valuable skills including thin to fat painting.

Textured Abstract-Wednesdays February 12, 19, and 26th 3:00-5:30PM
Create a great abstract painting that has a range of depth. Learn how to build up a lot of interesting textures. You will be able to experiment with different types of waxes and encaustic pigments.

Are Skill building classes meant for students with more experience.
Epic Figurative Narrative-Fridays February 21, 28,
March 7, 14, 21 1PM to 4PM
In the classic style of the old masters, you will create a realistic scene with at least 3 figures. You will set up and photograph the figures in the class with dramatic high contrast lighting. You will paint your scene in oil learning how to paint a variety of forms and textures. Cost:$150 Instructor: Elli Milan
Level 4 Classes
Professional artist development. These classes are for artists who are already selling their work or for artists who desire to start selling their work.
Portfolio Development- Tuesdays Jan. 14-Feb. 18, 6-8:30pm OR Thursdays Jan. 16-Feb 20, 9am to 12pm, FREE info meeting Jan. 7, 6-7pm
This class is designed for the artist to develop a process of painting or recipe that will express your unique style. The goal of this class is to be in position to produce a body of work that can be sold in the various art markets. This class is 6 weeks long and the work is produced in the artist’s studio.
